School Adventures

Recently GORATS have taken over management of the Tanybryn campsite leased and previously run by Belmont High School. The camp offers cabin style accommodation facilities in Tanybryn,  in the heart of the Otways, making accessible many of the spectacular activities and areas on display, which previously were somewhat hard to access for school groups particularly due to time and budget constraints.
Below is some information about the area and what the location of the camp can do for you.

 A Brief History
Previously the location of the Tanybryn campsite was such that available activities were limited due to the location. With the winding down of logging in the Otways the State Government provided $20 million dollars to upgrade tourism based facilities in the locality. This resulted in:
□          an upgrade of the Lake Elizabeth site to increase accessibility
□          The construction of purpose built mountain bike trails in the Forest township
□          Works on the Old Beechy Rail Line to become a rail-trail.
□          Upgrade of Triplet Falls site increasing accessibility
□          The approval of the Otway Fly Tree Top Walk site
Current works are being undertaken to improve Turtons Track making the connection to these utilities complete. Great Ocean Road Adventure Tours were pioneers in the development of mountain bike riding in school camps on the Surf Coast and in the Otways with Belmont High School and the Tanybryn campus being one of the earlier user groups.
